Myocarditis

Myocarditis is a condition characterized by an inflammation of the myocardium (the muscular part of the heart). It is normally caused by a viral or bacterial infection. It can cause chest pain, heart failure, or sudden death. Since it is caused by infection, early symptoms can include those associated with a typical infection (fever, diarrhea).
