Lagophthalmos

The inability to close one's eyelids completely is known as lagophthalmos. It is a form of facial paralysis. It is generally an outcome a previous condition, infection or event. Stokes, bacterial infections, neurosurgery and trauma have all been shown to cause lagophthalmos. The most serious repercussion to the condition is the inability to keep the eyeball moist.
