Hyphema is characterized by blood in the front chamber of the eye. It can have multiple appearances, the whole eye might have look red, or conversely it might look like a pool of blood in a section of the eye. It is generally caused by injury and can partially or completely impair vision. There is a range of treatment options which reflect the severity of each individual case. It can heal without any medical intervention, require some treatment, or result in permanent sight loss.
