Hyperopia, also known as farsightedness is the inability to focus on nearby objects. It is caused by a defect of the eyeball (to short, lens not round enough). In extreme cases, it can progress to the point that an afflicted individual can not see at all. Hyperopia is treated with the use of glasses, contact lenses, or in some cases refractive surgery.
