Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a lung disease marked by the narrowing of the airways become narrowed. When this happens, the transmission of air to and from the lungs is restricted causing shortness of breath. This leads to a limitation of the flow of air to and from the lungs causing shortness of breath. COPD is usually caused by exposure to toxic chemicals, most commonly tobacco smoke. This disease is irreversible and gets worse over time. Worldwide, it is one of the major causes of mortality. There is a wide variety of treatments to help manage to its symptoms.
