Otosclerosis

Otosclerosis is the abnormal growth of bone of the middle ear. It can and frequently does result in hearing loss. The loss usually begins in one ear and then spreads to the other. The disease is caused largely by genetic inheritance. Women are roughly twice as likely to have Otosclerosis than men.
